From a series of prints depicting the first issue of Irish State coins in 1928, derived from the designs of the English sculptor Percy Metcalfe (1895–1970). The coins became known as the ‘Barnyard Collection’ and comprised eight coins — the Woodcock, feoirling (farthing); the Pig and Piglets, leath phingin (halfpenny); the Hen and Chicks, pingin (penny); the Hare, leath reul (threepence); the Wolfhound, reul (sixpence); the Bull, scilling (shilling); the Salmon, flóirín (florin); and the Hunter, leath choróin (half-crown). Metcalfe’s designs were retained, some with modification, until the introduction of the Euro in 2002.
Prints are packed and mailed in a rigid cardboard tube €10 in Ireland, other countries on request
